A note on uniquely (nil) clean ring

A ring R is uniquely (nil) clean in case for any $a in R$ there exists a uniquely idempotent $ein R$ such that $a-e$ is invertible (nilpotent). Let $C =(A V W B)$ be the Morita Context ring. We determine conditions under which the rings $A,B$ are uniquely (nil) clean. Moreover we show that the center of a uniquely (nil) clean ring is uniquely (nil) clean.

A Further Note on Runs in Independent Sequences

Given a sequence of letters generated independently from a finite alphabet, we consider the case when more than one, but not all, letters are generated with the highest probability. The length of the longest run of any of these letters is shown to be one greater than the length of the longest run in a particular state of an associated Markov chain. Using results of Foulser and Karlin (19...

A Note on a graph associated to a commutative ring

The rings considered in this article are commutative with identity. This article is motivated by the work on comaximal graphs of rings.  In this article, with any ring $R$, we associate an undirected graph denoted by $G(R)$, whose vertex set is the set of all elements of $R$ and distinct vertices $x,y$ are joined by an edge in $G(R)$ if and only if $Rxcap Ry = Rxy$.  In Section 2 of this articl...

A note on a graph related to the comaximal ideal graph of a commutative ring

‎The rings considered in this article are commutative with identity which admit at least two maximal ideals‎.  ‎This article is inspired by the work done on the comaximal ideal graph of a commutative ring‎. ‎Let R be a ring‎.  ‎We associate an undirected graph to R denoted by mathcal{G}(R)‎,  ‎whose vertex set is the set of all proper ideals I of R such that Inotsubseteq J(R)‎, ‎where J(R) is...

A note on the ring loading problem

The Ring Loading Problem is an optimal routing problem arising in the planning of optical communication networks which use bidirectional SONET rings. In mathematical terms, it is an unsplittable multicommodity flow problem on undirected ring networks. We prove that any split routing solution to the Ring Loading Problem can be turned into an unsplittable solution while increasing the load on any...
